Frequently Asked Questions

Question: What age group can I play in?
Answer: Whatever age you are on May 1, 2011 is the age group you can play. You can always play up, but never down.
Example: Johnny is turning 13 on April 22, 2011. Johnny can play 13U or 14U, not 12U.

Question: What if I cannot make the scheduled tryout dates?
Answer: You must either attend the scheudled make up date, or schedule a private tryout BEFORE the scheudled make up date. To schedule a private tryout, please contact PBI-IL at (847) 842-0003.

Question: Do I have to come to all three (3) days of tryouts?
Answer: Yes. We will be testing different aspects of the game each day. If you have to miss one of the dates, please come to the make up date so we can get complete information of you. If you are going to be at the first two days and have to miss the third day, then you do not need to schedule a private. The third day is a scrimmage.

Answer: The Blue team is our "A" level team and will paly in the MSBL A league. The Gold team is our "B" level team and will play in the MSBL B league.

Question: When do the off-season workouts begin?
Answer: Skill sessions will be being in December and will entail basic fundamental stations for three weeks. In January, team practices will begin and go through the beginning of April. In January and February we will practice once a week. Starting in March we will begin going twice a week until we can get outside.

Question: What if I have to miss some of the indoor workouts because of other commitments?
Answer: There will be an all level make up hour every Saturday beginning in January that will have a PBI instructor there. This session will allow for any person who missed their practice that week because of another committment. This session will allow each player to throw, take ground balls, and hit.

Question: Where are the outdoor games and practices?
Answer: This year, our 10U BB & 14U SB played at Hunter's Farm in Fox River Grove, our 11U, 12U, & 13U BB played at Fox Trail Park in Port Barrington and 14U BB played at Harper College. This may change for the 2011 season.

Answer: Most games are within an hour of the chicagoland area, but there may be some additional travel for tournaments.
